The 2nd big update added new caves to the mountains, inside you will find a few new foes and the materials needed to make a new weapon, the flesh rippers which are like wolverenes claws, you can also make a new set of light armor that is fire resistant and makes you faster instead of slower. That update also added a new enemy and terrain feature to plains, the foe spawns at those new things and drops tar that is used to make new wood pieces that look more modern, for example instead of hay roofs you can have shingles. This unoffical class system works great in multiplayer as somebody can choose to be a frontline bruiser designed to take a head on fight while a different player snipes foes with their bow or flanks for backstabs. Shields got a rework too, you can get staggered now, high hp protects against it so now there are more combat builds, high stamina classes using light armor and ranged or fast weapons and dodges to avoid getting killed or high health classes using heavy armor and a thick shield designed to take a bruising in battle without breaking. The first big update rebalanced food so it now leans hp or stamina heavy with a few balanced options so now what the best food is determined by both task and progression rather than just progression. They have had some big updates and some small ones: That being said, don’t get rid of the ones that send players flying with spears, those are absolutely brilliant. There has been a few things since you left. Hopefully, as the game continues down its 2021 roadmap, we’ll see fewer bugs and glitches like this that limit framerates. Even Iron Gate believes Valheim needs some improvements. The game, which recently sold five million copies, still needs a lot of work done. Issues like these are typical of an early access title, which some may forget Valheim still is. It’s not clear when the game’s developer Iron Gate will add a fix to the game that enables fullscreen mode, so for now, this is your best bet. Here’s the code you need to enter in Steam’s launch options for Valheim to make it run in fullscreen: -window-mode exclusive -screen-fullscreen. Be sure to disable that and then try to run the game in fullscreen. Apparently, it doesn’t work when the game is running with Vulkan enabled. For bluEyedillusion, this translated to a jump from 50 to 60 fps to over 90 fps. When Valheim is actually running in fullscreen, its fps apparently can jump. Instead, the game runs in windowed borderless mode. Apparently, when Valheim is running in fullscreen, it’s not actually in fullscreen. The fix here requires players to set a launch option for the game in Steam. However, this fix won’t apply to everyone, so don’t think it’s a guarantee. A Redditor by the name of bluEyedillusion has found a way to boost their fps in Valheim. Thankfully, the game has a large and apparently clever community. Valheim isn’t infamous for much, save for its low framerates, regardless of what hardware players have packed into their computers. However, while the game doesn’t exactly look cutting-edge, it sure does perform like a modern triple-A title. Valheim is a wonderful game, full of massive trolls, beautiful buildings, and admittedly pretty scenery.
